English Language Editing

If you'd like to see a sample of some articles we've edited, please contact us and we'll be happy to provide you with one in your subject area. If you use our language editing service, you'll also be provided with a sample of your edited article to check before you're asked to make payment. 

We take the issue of plagiarism extremely seriously and we won't rewrite or paraphrase text that has been plagiarized from previously published work. It's your responsibility, as the author, to ensure that all previously published work included in your article has been cited appropriately.

Once you've received your edited paper, check through the edits, which will be clearly marked using Word’s Track Changes feature. If you agree with the changes, "Accept" them using the "Review" tab. Go through any comments that the editor has added and amend the text. If there are any points raised by the editor that you wish to have clarified, please contact us and we'll contact the editor of your paper.

Yes. If you've received comments from reviewers after submitting your article to your chosen journal, we're happy to edit your reply before you resubmit. Please send us the reviewer comments, your responses and the revised manuscript so the editor can edit your reply appropriately.

Yes. If you were particularly happy with their work on a previous paper, you can request to have the same editor work on your next paper (subject to availability). Please provide the previous paper number and we'll make sure your new paper is assigned to the same editor. If for any reason your chosen editor is unavailable, you can either choose another editor or wait until the original editor becomes available.

In the unlikely event that you're not satisfied with the editing of your paper, we'll re-edit it free of charge. Please contact the Helpdesk Team, stating why you aren't satisfied in as much detail as possible. We'll then arrange for the paper to be checked again until you are completely satisfied with it.

Yes. If there are any points you'd like to clarify with the editor after your article has been edited, please contact us and we'll contact the editor of your paper.  

If you choose  Expert Editing or Expert Editing Plus services, we can reduce the length of your article by up to 10% to comply with journal guidelines. Please let us know when you upload your article if you would like the editor to do this.

Yes. After your article has been completed, you can download an editorial certificate from our website, by clicking on the Certificate icon in your Past Orders list.

Both packages include a high-level English language edit by subject experts. The editors check spelling, grammar, punctuation, style and readability, as well as consistency of content. They ensure that your article complies with your targeted journal's guidelines.   



  • Expert Editing – Full language check of your article, 60% discount for re-editing within one year and choice of preferred editor.

  • Expert Editing Plus – In addition to the services offered at the Expert Editing, you can have your article re-edited free of change within one year and receive editing help with reviewer responses, revisions and your cover letter.

When you upload your article to our website, it's assessed by a member of our team before being assigned to an editor. At this stage you can change your package selection, so contact us immediately if you wish to do so. However, after your article has been assigned to an editor you won't be able to change the type of package. 

Yes. Please mention your target journal when you upload your article. Our editors will make sure your article complies with journal guidelines. 

Our goal is to simplify the communication process, reducing the need for direct contact with editors. Our Helpdesk Team is available to answer queries, so we always suggest contacting them first. However, we recognize that direct contact with editors is sometimes necessary in the case of complex queries, so we allow this in specific circumstances. 

When you're ready to place your order, review the drop-down list of AIP Publishing journals to select a target journal. Or, visit our Journal Selector Tool where you can enter keywords to help you search for appropriate journals. If you don't wish to select a particular journal, leave this field blank and proceed with your order. For further information or help with selecting a target journal,visit the AIP Publishing website where you can find impact factors and links to more detailed journal information. Alternatively, contact our Helpdesk for assistance.

In the unlikely event that you can't find your subject area listed on our website, contact us and we'll assign your article to the most appropriate editor.

Submission Process

You can upload your paper via our online system. Click here to register an account, if you don't already have one, and log in to upload your paper. When you log in, you'll be directed to the "Profile" section. Click on "Current Orders" and "Submit new paper". You'll be asked for information about the paper and the service you'd like to use. Read and agree to our terms and conditions, then upload your paper.

Standard turnaround times for our English Language Editing packages are 2, 3, or 6 days, depending on the urgency of your submission. If you require your paper to be delivered in less than 2 days, please contact us and we'll try to accommodate your needs. Please note that the 2-day service is available only for papers with a maximum of 6000 words. 


You'll receive emails at several stages - when you upload your paper, to confirm the turnaround time, and when your paper is completed and ready to be downloaded. Yes, we do edit references, and this is included as part of both of our English Language Editing services. References count towards the total word count unless you choose to exclude them. References are edited to comply with the correct format of your chosen journal. However, our editors will not change the actual format of the references, for example, from Harvard to Vancouver style. 


If you'd like your references edited, we recommend you remove reference management software such as Mendeley or Endnote before you upload your manuscript. We cannot guarantee that editors will have the correct software to edit your references using these programs. Editing them without this software would result in any changes being overwritten if the references are regenerated later. 

Please review the instructions for authors for your target journal, to ensure you've followed their guidelines exactly.

It's very common for journals to recommend further changes during peer review. We recognize that it can be difficult to interpret and apply these recommendations. With our Expert Editing service, we offer a 60% discount on re-editing your paper to accommodate reviewers’ recommendations and any changes you might make. We reserve the right to charge for further re-editing if the changes are extensive or have been made to comply with the guidelines of a different target journal. Our Expert Editing plus service includes free re-edits within one year and help with your reviewer responses.


To submit your paper for a re-edit, log onto the AIP Publishing Author Services website. You'll be taken to your "Profile" section. Click on "Past Orders" to find the correct paper. You can then click on the "Re-edit" icon to start the re-edit process.

No. The use of these services can help present your research in the best possible way. There is however no guarantee that your paper will be accepted for review or publication by a journal. 

You can pay at any point during the editing process using our secure payment options, such as PayPal, bank transfer or Alipay (for authors registered on our Chinese website). Please click here for more information.

We accept payment only in US dollars (USD) or Chinese Yuan ¥ (RMB).

There are no taxes currently added to our prices. Any bank charges are your responsibilty.  

Yes. You can change the billing address displayed on your invoice by clicking on "Edit billing info" on your profile, to include an additional address. 

On the pricing page, select "Get quote" under the package you've chosen, and a quote will be emailed to you. Prices may be subject to change, and final pricing will be confirmed at the time your order is assessed. Prices are quoted exclusive of any discounts or promotional codes. If these are applicable at the time you place your order, you can include them on the order form.

As soon as your paper has been assessed, you'll be able to download a proforma invoice from our website by clicking on the invoice icon next to your article. You can change the billing address displayed on your invoice by clicking on "Edit billing info" to include an additional address. Once payment for your paper has been made, your final invoice will show the date your payment was received and a PayPal payment reference number, if applicable.
